Dr. Li is currently a Distinguished Professor at UTHSC, Director of UTCoP Drug Discovery Center, and the Faculty Director of the Shared Analytical Instruments at UTHSC. He is also the Founder and CSO of SEAK Therapeutics LLC. Dr. Li obtained his BS degree from the University of Science and Technology of China and his PhD degree from Columbia University in 1999, both in chemistry. His research focus is small molecule drug discovery. He has published over 170peer-reviewed papers, four book chapters, and 12 issued US patents. Dr. Li has been a grant reviewer for US government, state, and foreign funding agencies. He is also a frequent reviewer for journal articles and is an editorial board member for several journals.
Josef Jampilek completed his Ph.D. degree in Medicinal Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Charles University (Czech Republic) in 2004. In 2004-2011, he worked in expert and managerial posts in the R&D Division of the pharmaceutical company Zentiva (Czech Republic). Prof. Jampilek deepened his professional knowledge at the Medicinal Chemistry Institute of the Heidelberg University (Germany) and at multiple specialized courses. In 2017, he was designated as a Full Professor of Medicinal Chemistry. At present he works at the Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials, Palacky University in Olomouc (Czech Republic) and the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava (Slovakia). In addition, he is a visiting professor at the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland) and Hong Kong Baptist University (Hong Kong SAR, China) and an invited professor/expert at various higher educational institutions. He is an author/co-author of more than 30 patents/patent applications, more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific publications, 7 university textbooks, more than 30 chapters in monographs, and many invited lectures at international conferences and workshops. He also received several awards for his scientific results, e.g., from Aventis, Elsevier, Willey, Sanofi and FDA. The research interests of Prof. Jampilek include design, synthesis, and structure-activity relationships of heterocyclic compounds as anti-invasive and anti-inflammatory agents as well as drug delivery nanosystems. He is also interested in ADME, drug bioavailability and solid-state pharmaceutical analysis.

Professor (David) Dagan Feng is Director, Biomedical & Multimedia Information Technology (BMIT) Research Group, and also Funding Head, School of Information Technology (renamed as Computer Science recently) and Funding Director, Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology Institute, the University of Sydney. He received his ME in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS) from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1982, MSc in Biocybernetics and PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1985 and 1988 respectively, where he received the Crump Prize for Excellence in Medical Engineering. In conjunction with his team members and students, he has been responsible for more than 50 key research projects, published over 900 scholarly research papers, pioneered several new research directions, and made a number of landmark contributions in his field. He has served as Chair of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) Technical Committee on Biological and Medical Systems, Special Area Editor / Associate Editor / Editorial Board Member for a dozen of core journals in his area, and Scientific Advisor for a number of prestigious organizations. He has been invited to give over 100 keynote presentations in 23 countries and regions, and has organized / chaired over 100 major international conferences / symposia / workshops. Professor Feng is Fellow of ACS, HKIE, IET, IEEE, and Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.
Dr. Amin Firouzi received his Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from University of Rome – Tor Vergata, Italy in collaboration with Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands in 2014. Then, he joined the Department of Process Engineering at International Maritime College Oman as assistant professor and was promoted to the head of the department in 2017. Dr. Amin has established two research labs in this department through internal and external research funding. In 2020, he joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Houston. Dr. Amin has served on several international scientific committees.His research interest is in the field of nanotechnology and mainly focused on synthesis, characterization and fabrication of nanomaterials/nanodevices for different applications.
Dr. Letizia Giampietro completed a Degree in Pharmacy in 2000 and received her PhD in Medicinal Chemistry in 2003 from “Università G. d’Annunzio”, Chieti, Italy. She obtained the "National Academic Qualification as Associate Professor". She is responsible for a medicinal chemistry synthesis laboratory and she is the supervisor of undergraduates and Ph.D. students. She has been invited as a Speaker and an Organizing Committee Member at Medicinal Chemistry conferences. She has experience in medicinal chemistry, and her research above all, focuses on the design, synthesis and biological evaluation of small molecules active on Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors (PPARs) and as inhibitors of Nitric Oxide Synthase (NOS). Lately, her research has been directed towards the synthesis of neuroprotective, antioxidant and anticancer compounds.
Isabel Pizarro Veas, PhD in Analytical Chemistry, obtained her degree from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. She works in the Department of Chemistry of the Faculty of Basic Sciences in the University of Antofagasta. Her research has focused on community themes, such as the effects of heavy metals and especially arsenic on human health. The work obtained three international recognitions: "TOP 100 Scientists 2014", granted by the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge in England; "Woman of the Year 2014" from the same institution, as well as the inclusion of her biography in "Who's Who in the World 2014-2020, published in New York, where her name appears with leading scientists from around the world.
