Thomas F. George(chancellor/professor emeritus) served as chancellor and professor of chemistry and physics at the University of Missouri–St. Louis from 2003 until his retirement in 2019. Prior to that, he was chancellor at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, provost at Washington State University, dean of science at SUNY-Buffalo, and promoted by age 29 to full professor of chemistry at the University of Rochester. He received his B.A. degree (Phi Beta Kappa) with a double major in chemistry and mathematics from Gettysburg College, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at age 23 from Yale University, with postdoctoral appointments at MIT and UC-Berkeley. Tom’s research specialty is chemical/materials/laser/nanophysics, including nanomedicine. He continues to be an active researcher with 800 papers, 8 authored and 20 edited books. M. Dammak received his MS degree in Physics in 1992 and his PhD in Physics in 1999 from the University of Monastir, Tunisia and his Habilitation HDR in 2005 from the University of Sfax, Tunisia. He arrived at University of Sfax, Tunisia in 2000 as an assistant teacher of physics in the science faculty of Sfax and since 2010 he is full professor of Physics. Pr Dammak serves as a coordinator of research Master of nanostructures and he is insuring since 2010 the quantum effects and the optical properties in nanostructures courses. He has also been a member of the physics commission since 2012. Professor Dammak's areas of research look at experimental and theoretical investigations of nanophosphors in the application areas of display, photovoltaic and biological sensors. Professor Dammak, together with his research group and collaborators, has published over 60 peer reviewed archival journal publications, he supervised ten PhD theses. He has been invited in different universities and given invited talks at several conferences. Currently He is leading a young research group “phosphors for display, biologic and photovoltaic applications”. His research interests include theoretical and experimental studies of lanthanide and transition metals doped materials used in wide range of applications, from lighting and public signaling to lasers, photovoltaic applications, biological markers and temperature sensors.
Prof. Dr. Hari Mohan Srivastava was born on 05 July 1940 in Karon (District Ballia) in the Province of Uttar Pradesh in India. Professor Hari Mohan Srivastava began his university-level teaching career right after having received his M.Sc. degree in 1959 at the age of 19 years. He earned his Ph.D. degree in 1965 while he was a full-time member of the teaching faculty at the Jai Narain Vyas University of Jodhpur in India (since 1963). Currently, Professor Srivastava holds the position of Professor Emeritus in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Victoria in Canada, having joined the faculty there in 1969, first as Associate Professor (1969-1974) and then as Full Professor (1974-2006). Professor Srivastava has held (and continues to hold) numerous Visiting and Chair Professorships at many universities and research institutes in many different parts of the world. Having received several D.Sc. Professor Michael Thompson obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Wales, UK and his PhD in analytical chemistry from McMaster University. Following a period as Science Research Council PDF at Swansea University he was appointed Lecturer in Instrumental Analysis at Loughborough University. He then moved to the University of Toronto where he is now Professor of Bioanalytical Chemistry. He has held a number of distinguished research posts including the Leverhulme Fellowship at the University of Durham and the Science Foundation Ireland E.T.S Walton Research Fellowship at the Tyndall National Institute, Cork City. He is recognized internationally for his pioneering work over many years in the area of research into new biosensor technologies and the surface chemistry of biochemical and biological entities. He has made major contributions to the label-free detection of biological macromolecule interactions and surface behavior of cells using ultra high frequency acoustic wave physics. He has also pioneered the development of anti-fouling surface modification, in particular anti-thrombogenic and anti-microbial adhesion materials. Thompson has served on the Editorial Boards of a number of major international journals including Analytical Chemistry, The Analyst, Talanta, Analytica Chimica Acta, Biosensors and Biosensors and Bioelectronics. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of the monograph series “Detection Science” for the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK. Dr. Osman Adiguzel graduated from Department of Physics, Ankara University, Turkey in 1974 and received PhD- degree from Dicle University, Diyarbakir-Turkey. He studied at Surrey University, Guildford, UK, as a post doctoral research scientist in 1986-1987, and his studies focused on shape memory alloys. He worked as research assistant, 1975-80, at Dicle University and shifted to Firat University in 1980. He became professor in 1996, and he has been retired due to the age limit of 67; following academic life of 45 years. He has worked over over the past 8 years on NanoScale materials, advanced materials manufacturing and applications, and over 10 years in Metallurgy and Aluminium Manufacturing. I have achieved Electrolytic syntheses, characterizations, and applications of novel graphene/nano-Carbons, resulting in Superior Electrical, Electronic, Thermal and Dielectric characteristics; also resulting in the Highest Capacities when applied to Lead Acid and Lithium-ion Batteries, resulting from higher Utilization of Electrode Materials, 1st to demonstrate electrode precipitation and dissolution mechanisms in the gel-crystal electroactive zone of the lead-acid battery; synthesized graphene also resulted in higher viscoelastic mechanical behaviour in graphene-enhanced epoxy nanocomposites prepared by in-situ reduction of GO by solvent evaporation and hot stirring. Synthesized highly scalable and diversely applicable crystalline pristine graphene directly from graphite, with high basal planarity using solid-state processes, or alternative colloidal sonication process. This has resulted in the high-performance graphene anode for lithium-ion battery. On the project on FSW, Dr Dada have achieved parametric analysis, 1st SEM demonstration of material flow pattern, and failure characteristics of Friction Stir Welds of industrial and aeronautical alloys. Experience dates back to Alussuisse owned Nigerian Aluminium Extrusion, a Laboratory Extrusion project, and AIRBUS FSW project at Wits University. Prof. Dada received PhD in Mechanical Engineering Nanotechnology Concentration at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong.
