Jan Lerut, MD, PhD; Professor emeritus of Surgery. He graduated from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL-B) and trained in General Surgery at the KUL under the lead of Prof. Jacques A.GRUWEZ, the H.Heine University of Dusseldorf-G) under the lead of Prof. Karl KREMER and the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL-B) under the lead of Prof. Paul Jacques KESTENS. From the start of his surgical career he was very involved in the field of organ transplantation. This interest resulted in a hepatobiliary and transplantation NATO-fellowship at the University Paris-Sud – Centre Hépatobiliaire under the lead of Prof. BISMUTH and at the University Pittsburgh Medical Centre under the lead of Prof. STARZL. He was director of the abdominal transplant program at the Inselspital University of Bern (CH) from 1987 to 1991. He was ordinary Professor of Surgery and director of the Department of Abdominal and Transplantation Surgery. He was Director of the Starzl Abdominal Transplant Unit of the University Hospitals Saint Luc from 1991 to 2016 and of the UCL Transplant Centre in Brussels from 2006 to 2016. He has served as president of the Belgian Society of Transplantation, the Royal Belgian Society of Surgery, the Eurotransplant Liver Allocation Committee (ELIAC),the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT), the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS) and the International Living Donor Liver Transplantation Study Group (iLDLT-SG).He is vice-chair of the UEMS-European Board of Transplantation Surgery (EBTS) and member of the Belgian Superior Health Council. He is member of 22 learning societies related to surgery and transplantation, several councils, scientific committees (e.g. Transmet colorectal metatstases transplantation project, European University Diploma Hepatic, pancreatic and biliary onco-surgical strategies, UEMS-European Board Transplantation Surgery). He serves as reviewer for the major peer-review journals in the field of surgery, transplantation and hepatology and is member of different editorial boards. He leads the Euroliver Foundation and Soroptimist awareness campaigns for adolescents in relation to organ donation and transplantation. He has published over 350 peer-reviewed articles, he authored 24 books chapters and 24 scientific films. He made more than 750 communications on national and international congresses, most of them devoted to liver transplantation.

Dr. Frederick J. Goldstein, PhD, Fellow in Clinical Pharmacology, is a medical scientist, Professor of Clinical Pharmacology,and Coordinator of Pharmacology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). He is on the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners, is a member of several national and international clinical pharmacology and pain societies, serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Opioid Management, and reviews submissions for this publication and the Journal of Osteopathic Medicine. He has many publications, and also received grants for human studies, including one from the AOA to improve post-operative analgesia following total abdominal hysterectomy; this research demonstrated that a combination of pre-emptive morphine plus post-surgical osteopathic manipulative treatment improved pain relief in the post-surgical period. Dr. Goldstein also participated in the published patient-monitoring study, “Telemedicine-Based Intervention Reduced the Frequency and Severity of COPD Exacerbation Symptoms.” He currently has a pilot investigation in progress designed to reduce chronic neuropathic pain using dronabinol (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol; THC).Preliminary results to date show successfulimprovement in analgesia in many study subjects. He is expanding this specific clinical research with a multi-year grantfrom a medical marijuana company in Pennsylvania. Dr. Goldstein is a member of Compassion and Choices, a national organization that advocates the right-to-diefor patients meeting certain conditions.

Michael Stark, was director of hospitals and departments for over 40 years and modified several gynecological operations and developed the concept of single-entry natural orifice surgery. He is the president of the New European Surgical Academy (NESA), an international inter-disciplinary surgical organization with members in 57 countries. In 2011 he was nominated as the Medico Del Anno (Doctor of the Year) in Italy, honorary Member of the French, Polish, Russian, Serbian-Austrian and Italian Gynecological Associations and scientist at the Charite University Hospital in Berlin, adjunct professor at the MIPT university in Moscow and vice president of the Chinese Perinatology association.
Director of the Gaucher Unit at Shaare Zedek Medical Center
Professor Ari Zimran was the Founder and the Director of the Gaucher Unit at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel from 1990 to 2018, and is currently a senior physician at the Unit. This is the world’s largest referral centre for Gaucher disease (GD), where more than 850 patients have been followed, and about 350 patients are treated with enzyme replacement therapy. Professor Zimran has published more than 320 professional papers and reviews and has edited three books; he has been a leader in clinical trials for new treatments for GD, including Cerezyme™, Zavesca™, VPRIV™, Elelyso™ and Cerdelga™. Professor Zimran was the first to report the possible association between GD and Parkinson disease (PD), and his current research activities include prodromal features of PD (with the ultimate goal of prevention) among GBA carriers, gene therapy and oral delivery of recombinant human proteins,
Dr. Gülnur Emingil is a dentist/periodontist at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ege University. She acquired her PhD in Periodontology in 1996, her Associate Professor degree in 2003, and became a Professor in 2007. She was visiting scholar for 2 years at School of Dental Oral Surgery, Columbia University. Prof. Emingil is funded well for more than 30 projects by national (i.e. TUBITAK) and local council funds. She is author of >110 publications with several contributions in international conferences. Her research interests are in the areas of pathogenesis of periodontal disease, host modulation, as well as adjunctive therapies in the management of periodontal disease and periodontal disease-systemic interactions.

Rosemary Chigevenga was born on 29 January 1982. She holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of South Africa. In addition, her academic qualifications also include a MSc. in Community Psychology and a BSc. Honours Degree in Psychology. Rosemary is a Psychology lecturer at Great Zimbabwe University in Masvingo and is also a part-time faculty member of UNICAF. Her work experience is characterised by serving as a Psychology lecturer at Women’s University in Africa (2014-2019), school administrator at Paramount Academy (2012-2013), assistant lecturer at Great Zimbabwe University (2008 -2011), part time tutor at Zimbabwe Open University (2008 -2014) and social services officer within the Zimbabwean Department of Social Services. In 2016, she received an award from Women’s University in Africa as the best lecturer in university service and community engagement. Rosemary’s research is centred on women empowerment, sexual and reproductive health rights, HIV and AIDS, COVID-19, developmental psychology, child welfare and general community psychology. She has published a couple of articles in renowned journals.
