Prof. Dr. Michel Gendreau is Professor of Operations Research inthe Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering of Polytechnique Montréal (Canada). His main research area is the application of operations research methods to a wide range of problem areas: transportation and logistics systems planning and operation, energy production and storage, healthcare, and telecommunications. Dr. Gendreau has published more than 350 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He is also the co-editor of eight books dealing with transportation planning and scheduling, as well as with metaheuristics. Dr. Gendreau was the Director of the Centre for Research on Transportation (formerly CRT and now CIRRELT) from 1999 to 2007. He was Editor in chief of Transportation Sciencefrom 2009 to 2014. He was Siyuan Chair Professor at Nanjing University (2008-2011) and Changjiang Scholars Chair Professor at Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications (2009-2012) in China, and is currently Honorary Chair Professor at National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan (2010-2016). He obtained a B.Sc.[Eng] (first class honors) from the University of Hong Kong; an M.Sc. from the University of Birmingham, U.K.; and a Ph.D. and an Sc.D. from the University of Cambridge, U.K. He has previously taught in Canada, England, and Singapore. Prof. Cheng’s expertise is applying Systems and Cybernetics Sciences methodologies to address business and management issues. An internationally known scholar and a prolific researcher, Prof. Cheng has published over 600 papers in SCI and SSCI journals. He has co-authored 14 books published by Chapman and Hall, McGraw- Hill, and Springer. He is consulting editor/editor/associate editor or editorial board member of a dozen international journals. Prof. Dr. Yucheng Liu(PhD, PE, FASME, FSAE) is the Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at Mississippi State University (MSU), he currently serves as Graduate Coordinator in that department and holds the Jack Hatcher Chair in Engineering Entrepreneurship in the Bagley College of Engineering. Prior to joining MSU in 2014, Dr. Liu was the Assistant Professor of the ME Department at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL Lafayette). Dr. Liu received his PhD degree from the University of Louisville in 2005 and Bachelor’s Degree from the Hefei University of Technology in 1997, both in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Liu’s research has historically focused on the areas of multiscale material modeling and simulation, high strain rate performance of materials, vehicle systems design and analysis, and hydropower and wave energy technology. His current research interests and activities center on gaining a better understanding of the process-structure-property-performance relations of structural materials through advanced multiscale theoretical framework and integrated computational and experimental methods. To date, Dr. Liu has published more than 220 peer reviewed publications, including more than 110 peer reviewed journal articles. He has been the PI and co-PI for over 40 research projects funded by NSF, DOD, DOE, NASA, FAA, Louisiana Board of Regents, and industry with a total amount over $9.4M. Katta Gopalakrishna Murty is an Indian-born mathematical programming specialist and a Fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). He received his bachelors and masters in degrees in statistics from Indian universities prior to coming to the United States. In 1968 Murty received his doctorate from the University of California, Berkley under the supervision of David Gale. He joined the Industrial and Operations Engineering Department at the University of Michigan at the suggestion of Gale and George Dantzig, his other thesis advisor. During his first year of teaching, Murty noticed that his students had difficulties grasping the information in the assigned textbooks. He therefore started to make his own notes to accompany the material that eventually came together in his Linear and Combinatorial Programming (1976), the first significant text on the subject. Murty has gone on to publish eight other books. In addition to contributions to the literature on the linear complementarity problem, linear optimization, and computational complexity, Murty’s research developments in the field have had significant influence in the application of operations research. Algorithms he developed in the 1960s, including one for ranking solutions to the assignment, continue to be used. This assignment-ranking method was modified into a branch and bound method for solving the traveling salesman problem in combinatorial optimization. Several of Murty’s earliest students (hailing from twelve different countries) were interested in theoretical research related to optimization. In the process of finding research topics for his students, Murty developed a strong motivation to pursue both applied and theoretical research. Murty has consulted for the United States Army, Motorola, and a number of other companies. He and Philipp A. Djang wrote a paper on the National Guard’s mobile training simulators location and routing problem and were awarded the Bernard Koopman Prize by the Military Applications Society of INFORMS for best military operations research article in 1998. Murty’s work with the Hongkong Productivity Council and the Hongkong International Terminals on employing a data-intensive decision-support system to increase airport terminal efficiency was a finalist for the Franz Edelman Prize in 2004. Murty retired from the University of Michigan in 2010. Over his career he chaired or co-chaired over twenty PhD dissertation committees. Many of his former students have gone on and engaged in successful academic careers of their own.

Dr. Ying Liu is currently Reader in Intelligent Manufacturing and the Group Leader for High-value Manufacturing with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering in Cardiff University, UK. Before that, he worked as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at National University of Singapore (2010-2013) and with the Department of Industrial Systems and Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2006-2010). Dr. Dean L. Bartles is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Manufacturing Technology Deployment Group which includes the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining. Previously, he was President of the National Tooling and Machining Association. Prior to that he designed and built the John Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center at the University of New Hampshire. Dr. Bartles was the founding Executive Director of the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute in Chicago after working for General Dynamics Corporation for 30 years setting up and running manufacturing operations in Egypt, Turkey, and the US. He recently served as the 2016-2017 President of the North American Manufacturing Research Institute, the 2016 President of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and the founding Chairman of the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition. Dr. Willy Van Overschée was CEO of CIMCIL from 2012 to 2016. CIMCIL is an independent training center, specialized in workshops, training and certificates in Operations Management, Lean Management and Supply Chain Management. Willy was recruited by IBM Belgium in 1977, where he started his career as a systems engineer, continuing in commercial and management roles after. He was active and leading the Industrial sector division, responsible for large scale contracts with local companies and large multinational enterprises with Belgium based headquarters. From 1996 to 2005, he expands his experience in the management of IBM Europe in several Industry and Distribution division roles. He developed and implemented a novel channel distribution strategy, including internal and external resources. This resulted in both revenue growth and expense reduction in the leading country organizations.
