Dr. Susanna Rosi is the Lewis and Ruth Cozen Chair II, Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science and Neurological Surgery and Director of Neurocognitive Research at the Brain and Spinal Injury Center. The Rosi laboratory studies how brain injury and neuroinflammation impact cognitive functions. Her work provided the first mechanistic evidence for the role of microglia in the development of cognitive deficits after therapeutic brain irradiation and charged particle exposure. Her studies uncovered sex-dependent differences in behavioral and cognitive response to irradiation demonstrating promising cellular and molecular intervention targets for cognitive deficits. Her work advanced our understanding of charged particle-induced cognitive challenges in a sex-dimorphic manner, provided evidence for early peripheral biomarkers for identifying late cognitive deficits, and offered potential therapeutic strategies for mitigating radiation-induced cognitive loss. For her significant contribution to the field of normal tissue radiation she received the 2021JW Osborne Award. She discovered the role of the integrated stress response in traumatic brain injury and aging. Her collaborative work with Peter Walter was first to demonstrate the curative effects of ISRIB in TBI-induced dementia, as well as its rejuvenating effects on cognitive brain function in aged mice.

Dr. Luisa Maria Arvide Cambra, Spanish is now Professor with Chair at the University of Almería (Spain) and she was Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at the University of Granada from 1979 on. Prof. Emeritus Radu Mutihac is Chair of Medical Physics Section, University of Bucharest, and works in Neuroscience, Signal Processing, Microelectronics, and Artificial Intelligence. As postdoc/research associate/visiting professor/full professor, he run his research at the University of Bucharest, International Centre for Theoretical Physics (Italy), Ecole Polytechnique and Institut Henri Poincaré (France), KU Leuven (Belgium). Data mining and exploratory analysis of neuroimaging time series were addressed during two Fulbright Grants in Neuroscience (Yale University, CT, and University of New Mexico, NM, USA). His research in fused biomedical imaging modalities was carried out at the Johns Hopkins University, National Institutes of Health, and Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, MD, USA. In 2008, Prof. Mutihac was nominated PhD student supervisor in the field of Physics at the University of Bucharest, Romania. Prof. Mutihac is member of the ISMRM, ESMRMB, OHBM, Romanian US Alumni Association, and fellow of Signal Processing and Neural Networks Society IEEE, as well as referee for several journals of the Institute of Physics (London, UK), Neural Networks (Elsevier), IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, and evaluator/expert for the ISMRM, OHBM, ARACIS, CNCSIS, UEFISCDI, The Romanian – U.S. Fulbright Commission, and the European Commission (FP7, H2020). Dr. Humberto Mendes Faria Rodrigues,Bachelor and Master in Clinical and Health Psychology at Aveiro University (Portugal) and internship in Coimbra Hospital University Centre (e.g., Intervention in Sleep Disorders and Pain Disorders). Later, worked as a psychologist and neuropsychologist. Also performed a research project in Biofeedback/Neurofeedback by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). Is currently working with the Institution of Solidarity Projecto Homem / Braga in the additions field. In parallel, also conducts outpatient consultations in various psychological disorders. Concomitantly, made several national and international communications in various Congress as Guest Speaker in the field of Neuroscience and Editor – Journal of Neurology & Stroke (JNSK); ISSN: 2373-6410 Author of several articles in peer review journals. Dr. Segundo Mesa Castillo is a Specialist in Neurology; he has worked for 10 years in the Institute of Neurology of Havana, Cuba. He has worked with Electron Microscopy on Schizophrenia for 32 years. He was awarded with the International Price of the Stanley Foundation Award Program and for the Professional Committee to work as a fellowship position in the Laboratory of the Central Nervous System Studies, National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke under Dr. Joseph Gibbs for a period of 6 months, National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Washington DC USA.
Dr. Ghulam Md Ashraf is working as Associate Professor in King Fahd Medical Research Center, King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia. He has a PhD degree in Biochemistry with over ten years of teaching and research experience in various disciplines of biological and medical sciences. Dr. Ashraf has taught various subjects like Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Genetics, Immunology, Medical Lab Technology, Molecular Biology, Neurology, and Recombinant DNA Technology at graduate and post-graduate levels. His primary fields of research are biochemistry and neurology, currently focusing on understanding the molecular and behavioral mechanism of effects of anti-diabetic drugs in pyschotic and dementia conditions. Dr. Ashraf’s lab is currently investigating the effect of anti-diabetic drugs in dementia, and their role in possible attenuation/reversal of anti-psychotic drugs induced weight gain in psychotic conditions. He is also investigating molecular and behavioral mechanisms of novel therapeutic combinations in multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Ashraf has published 268 research articles (citations: 4574, H-index: 33, i10 index:127) and have been involved in 19 research grants [13 ongoing (11 PI, 2 CoI) and 6 completed (3 PI, 3 CoI)]. He is also involved in editorial roles in renowned scientific journals like Scientific Reports (Senior EBM), PLoS One (Academic Editor), Current Neuropharmacology (Section Editor). Dr. Ashraf is professionally associated with the Royal Society of Medicine (Fellow), Royal Society of Biology (Member) and American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Member).
