Biography

I am senior lecturer in System Dynamics and I am part of the SPE group. I graduated from the University of Naples in Aerospace Engineering in 2006. After my degree I worked for two years in acoustics and noise reduction for Ansaldo Breda (high speed train V250) and Piaggio Aeronautica (P180 Avanti). During this period I nurtured my passion for research and I finally decided to continue my studies by joining the University of Bristol for a PhD. My PhD dissertation was titled "Increasing the bandwidth of vibration based Energy harvesters". During these years I developed an interest for nonlinear dynamical systems. After working for the university of Bristol on three projects on nonlinear dynamics, I was appointed as a lecturer in System Dynamics in January 2015.

Biography

I joined Salford University as Lecturer in Fluid Mechanics in March 2016 and have introduced new research themes in CFD, nanofluid dynamics, multiphysical electromagnetic flows, rocket propulsion, coating simulation, solar nanotechnology, biomedical fluid dynamics, supercritical thermodynamics and thermo-elasticity. Earlier in my career I developed and delivered the MEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering degree at Sheffield Hallam University (2007-2012) and led research in theoretical biofluid mechanics and computational rocket heat transfer. I taught aerodynamics, thermofluids, energy systems, railway fluid mechanics, propulsion, heat transfer, aero-structures and solid mechanics. I have collaborated with international research groups in the USA, Malaysia, Holland, France, Canada, Pakistan, India and Algeria. My research work/supervision has resulted in 3 recent awards: in 2017 (RAEs Teddy Fielding Prize, awarded to my BEng (Hons) aeronautical student Betty Islam for her final year project on aircraft wing water ingress simulation, based on a Lufthansa Malta placement secured by Mr. Ali Kadir which led to a journal publication in Arabian Journal of Science and Engineering in May 2019), in 2018 (Vice Chancellor Award for Research Excellence for my sustained output in leading high impact factor international journals and integration of new research themes into the engineering curriculum) and in 2019 (Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship for Aerospace Research, awarded to my PhD student, S. Kuharat). I have been ranked as “internationally excellent” in the Internal Peer Review Process (March 2019). In May 2017 I was appointed to the editorial board of Journal of Nanofluids – the only journal in the world which focuses specifically on this key area of engineering science- in recognition of sustained contributions in nanofluid simulation in inter-disciplinary areas including medicine, energy and aerospace. I have been UK editor for the Journal of Mechanics in Medicine and Biology (Singapore/USA) since 2010 and have coordinated many contributions in the areas of biological heat and mass transfer. I have developed new pathways for high-temperature corrosion simulation with Mr. Ali Kadir, Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. I have chaired special themes at international conferences including most recently at the 20th Int. Conf. Heat Transfer/Fluid Mechanics, Istanbul, Turkey, August (2018) where I also presented multiple works. I have co-edited a special volume, Modeling and Simulation in Engineering Sciences (2016) which attracted dozens of international contributions. I have also published 4 invited book chapters on state-of-the-art techniques including computational bio-nano-fluid dynamics (Computational Approaches in Biomedical Nano-Engineering, Wiley, USA, 2019) and multi-physical electro-magnetic propulsion fluid dynamics (Mathematical Modelling: Methods, Applications & Research, Nova Science, New York, 2018). Much of my work has appeared in the leading journals in their respective fields with high impact factors. At Salford University I have mobilized a new thrust in nanotechnology and have combined biology, energy sciences, computational methods and nanoscience to design multiple MSc projects, 2 new PhD projects (in solar and corrosion protection) and new collaborations with engineering faculty. I have embraced a strongly inter-disciplinary approach in my work which is in line with the ethos of the new unified School of Science, Engineering and Environment. My book “Giants of Engineering Science” (2003) which was translated into Chinese in 2008, has also been mentioned on the profile of Professor K.J. Bathe of MIT, a world authority in computational mechanics (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klaus-Jürgen_Bathe). My work has received 44,000 thousand reads on Researchgate (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/O_Beg ), and is rated 41.14 which is in the top 5% of all members of this international database. I have developed many new areas of integrated multi-physical modelling including electro-kinetic nanofluid dynamics, which has been recognized, for example, with my work being published in the Harvard Medical School journal, Microvascular Research.

Since 1963, Dr. Hung’s research activities have been focused on computational fluid mechanics with some experiment verifications. His work covered flow separation and vortices, nonlinear peristaltic flows, particle transport by peristalsis, fluid dynamics of heart valves, intra-aortic balloon pumping, intra-vena-cava balloon pumping, three-dimensional spiral flows, microcirculation, biomechanical characteristics of spinal cord injury, and in-vivo measurement of animal spinal cord rheological and injury characteristics. He also engaged in developing membrane oxygenation transport, and neonatal respiratory support in pregestational lambs. Other endeavors included unsteady flow with moving boundaries, earthquake hydrodynamics on dams, flow induced cylinder oscillation, sloshing waves in oscillating tank, kinematics, dynamics and energy transfer of ventricular pumping, and pulsating blood flows in stenotic and curved arteries.

Biography

Professor Counsell obtained his PhD in engineering at Lancaster University in 1992 in the design of autopilots for high performance aircraft as a British Aerospace postgraduate apprentice and invented the Robust Inverse Dynamics Estimation method RIDE for controller design that later was used by British Aerospace and Defra and featured in the Garteur book on Autopilot design. In 1991 he joined the UK’s Electricity Research and Development Centre (ERDC) later privatised to EA Technology where he pioneered Demand Side Response (DSR) for electric heating. He co-invented and patented the CELECT system now used as bench mark for optimised storage heating systems in Part L of the England and Wales Building Regulations. In 1997 he directed Lancaster University’s Engineering Design Centre in Mechatronics and successfully exploited advanced mechatronic controller design in the glass bottle making industry with Emhart Glass UK and later the world’s most advanced gas flow sputtering coating process controller Gencoa’s Speedflo. In 1999 he joined Brother International Europe to head Brother’s future products group for printers, imaging and networking IT devices, software and systems. Here he developed the world’s first consumer hard copy to hard copy language translation device, automatic IT network labelling solutions from MS Visio and created the concept of an A3 multi-function printer, copier and scanner launched in 2009. That positioned Brother as world number one manufacturer of A3 multi-function inkjet machines a position it still holds today. He left Brother to join the University of Strathclyde in 2007 to follow his passion on energy efficient buildings using low voltage DC (LVDC) technologies. He was appointed as KTN lead on Smart DC technology and contributed to the IET’s code of practice for LVDC in buildings. He patented the world’s first controller to fully integrate and optimise the use of renewable power generation in IT networks. At Strathclyde in partnership with BRE he co-invented the IDEAS methodology to estimate the energy consumption, carbon emissions and comfort performance of home heating systems using dynamic simulation and intelligent controls/ demand side response using a highly computationally efficient equation closed loop differential equation solver using inverse dynamics. In 2012 he left the University of Strathclyde to develop his own business Advanced Control (Partnerships) Limited and created a software tool and control algorithm to simulate, optimise and control multi-vector energy systems for building clusters, whole cities and industrial CHP private wire systems. The tool Poweriver is now used worldwide and recently contributed to the UK government IRDRIC programme’s prize winning project with the University of Durham. In 2016 he joined the University of Chester to set up a new department in Electronic & Electrical Engineering. Initially starting with an undergraduate BEng and MEng degree, the course quickly developed an alumni with highly impressive careers. This success led to the development of a MSc in EEE course today is now preparing to launch an MSc in Mechatronics in 2024/5 for which Professor Counsell teachers and supervises research projects in Intelligent Control. He heads up the Digital Energy & Control Systems (DECS) research group, further developing the IDEAS simulation methodology for renewable heating systems and continues his research in Smart DC power systems for ICT networks.

Currently Deputy Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology, Dr. Fong-chin Su is Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Secretary General and President-elect of World Association for Chinese Biomedical Engineers (2015-17), Councilor of World Council of Biomechanics (2014-26), and Founding Councilor of Asian-Pacific Association for Biomechanics. He is actively involved in biomechanics-related activities. In addition, he was the congress chair of several international conferences. He holds a Ph.D. degree from Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Rochester, USA in 1989 with major in solid mechanics and biomechanics.

Professor Timothy Sands, PhD A graduate of Columbia and Stanford Universities, Professor Sands earned the doctorate in astronautical engineering from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. He is an eminent engineer of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society, international scholar laureate of the Golden Key International Honor Society, full member of Sigma Xi, the scientific research honor society, and recipient of the prestigious Theodore von Kármán award for the most outstanding contribution to national defense in the field of science and engineering. Dr. Sands teaches courses tailored to working professionals in the space industry in space robotics including basic dynamics, materials and structural properties, and automatic control including structural interaction and nonlinear constrained optimization. He is Editor-in-Chief of the journal AI, Computer Science and Robotics Technology, Topic Editor in Chief of MDPI Space Robotics, and Space Robotics Technical Committee Member of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. Nominated 2009, he was named a Fellow of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in 2010.

Sheng Quan Xie (Senior Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2002.,In 2003, he joined the University of Auckland and became a Chair Professor in (Bio) mechatronics in 2011. Since 2017, he has been the Chair of Robotics and Autonomous Systems with the University of Leeds, Leeds, U.K. He has authored or coauthored eight books, 15 book chapters, and more than 400 international journal and conference papers. His current research interests include medical and rehabilitation robots and advanced robot control.,Dr. Xie is an Elected Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand.

Dr. Balaram Kundu has been a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, since January 2014. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, in 2000. He worked as a Research Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Hanyang University, Seoul, South Korea, for two years and nine months under the Brain Korea 21 program (2010 - 2012). He has also visited Hanyang University several times as a Visiting Research Professor and International Faculty. He authorized over 130 technical papers published in referred international journals with more than 490 cumulative impact points. He has given a few keynote talks at international conferences. His name has been enlisted by Stanford University scientists in the top 2% of the global scientist list in 2020, 2021, and 2022. His area of interest in research includes heat transfer in composite material, nano-material, hyperthermia treatment, analytical heat transfer, biological heat transfer, solar collector, thermal insulation, extended surface heat transfer, fin-and-tube heat exchanger, electro-osmotic flow, etc.

Michael T. Todinov is a professor of mechanical engineering at Oxford Brookes University, UK. Prof. Todinov holds a PhD in mechanical engineering and a higher doctorate, equivalent to a DSc, in mathematical modelling. Both of his degrees are from the University of Birmingham, UK. Prof. Todinov has pioneered innovative research in several areas, including reverse engineering of algebraic inequalities for exploring physical reality and optimising processes and systems, domain-independent methods for reliability improvement, repairable flow networks, reliability analysis based on the cost of failure and statistics of fracture controlled by defects. In the fields of mechanical engineering, materials science, reliability, risk, and mathematical modelling, Prof. Todinov has authored six books with reputable academic publishers and more than 160 research papers. In 2017, he received the prestige award of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (UK) for his work in the area of risk reduction in mechanical engineering.

Dr. Redwan Alqasemi earned his BSc, MSc, and PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1994, 2001, and 2007 consecutively. He is currently a research professor at the University of South Florida's Mechanical Engineering Department and a lead researcher at the Center for Assistive, Rehabilitation and Robotics Technologies (CARRT). Dr. Alqasemi is a senior member of IEEE society, a member of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), and a board member of the Lifeboat Foundation Scientific Advisory Board. He served as a panelist for several NSF/NIH programs and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Rehabilitation Research & Development Service (RRDS) program. Dr. Alqasemi has published more than 200 technical papers in national and international journals and conferences in the field of robotics and assistive/rehabilitation technologies, and he is an Associate Editor for the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), and for MDPI Sensors Journal. His research interests include: rehabilitation robotics and assistive technologies, human-robot interaction and controls, virtual reality simulation, haptic interfaces, and brain-computer interfaces. His Wheelchair-Mounted Robotic Arm project was recognized by IEEE Robotics and Automation Magazine as one of the world's assistive robotic systems and compared it to 19 different systems worldwide. Two of the most visible projects he worked on are the Brain-Computer interface to control a robotic arm using EEG brain signal; and the Virtual Reality for Vocational Rehabilitation (VR4VR) to train persons with disabilities on job-related skills using immersive virtual reality environment with tangible objects. Dr. Alqasemi holds four full US patents, several provisional patents, and some of his work is ready for commercial use.

Dr. Anil Srivastava is currently a Star Professor in the Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering at UTRGV. He received his doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. Dr. Srivastava has 30+ years of industry and academic research and leadership experiences in the areas of advanced manufacturing and materials, mainly, focusing on Precision Machining, Sustainability, Composite Materials, Smart Manufacturing, and Sensor Applications to Manufacturing Processes. Dr. Srivastava is member of SME and ASME and also, a Fellow of SME and Fellow of ASME.

Biography

Experienced researcher and technologist with particular expertise of space systems, control algorithms, and mechatronics for extreme and precision environments, in both academic and industrial environments. My research is related to developing mechatronic systems for extreme (space, underground, Antarctica), precision (medical), and agricultural environments. This work includes research covering control theory to machine learning and work on robotic manipulators to satellites. To date the work carried out has mainly involved collaboration with industry, either working alongside them to create a new solution or supporting ongoing developments. This has led to a wide range of experience, ranging from working to international standards, through to the development and running of tests in a range of test houses, and in the field.

Wen Feng Lu received the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota, USA. He was a Faculty Member with the University of Missouri, USA, for ten years. He was also a Group Manager and a Senior Scientist with the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology for six years. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS). His research interests include IT in product design, sustainable design and manufacturing, 3-D printing, and intelligent manufacturing. He was a recipient of 1997 Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers of USA and 2011 ASME Virtual Environments and Systems Technical Committee Best Paper Award.

Prof. Jerry Fuh is a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Founding Director and Advisor of NUS Centre for Additive Manufacturing (AM.NUS), Singapore. He is a Fellow of SME and ASME, USA and a PE from California, USA. Prof. Fuh has devoted himself to the research of Additive Manufacturing (AM) processes or 3D Printing (3DP) since 1995. He and his colleagues have established the NUS’s cross-faculty R&D programme focusing on AM/3DP-enabled biomedical applications and set up SGD$20M+ advanced AM laboratories through several agencies’ and University grants, incl. Yifan Zhao is a full Professor of Data Science at Cranfield University, UK. He has over 20 years of experience in applied data science for degradation assessment and anomaly detection. The applications cover non-destructive testing & evaluation (NDT&E), critical asset health monitoring for complex engineering systems and construction sites. He holds the Royal Academy of Engineering Industrial Fellowship (IF2223B-110) to develop innovative data-centric solutions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption in large construction projects. Related research grants include ‘Fuel Coach’ (BEIS, PI, EEF8037), ‘The Learning Camera’ (Innovate UK, PI, 104794) and ‘One Source of Truth’ (Innovate UK, 105881) to investigate how AI and computer vision can improve the productivity and reduce energy consumption in the construction sector. In ‘CogShift’ (EPSRC, Co-I, EP/N012089/1), he led the research on characterising driver behaviour using computer vision and AI. In ‘SecureUltrasound’ (EPSRC, Co-I, EP/R013950/1) he focused on image analysis for evaluating and improving ultrasound image quality. He also extended his data science expertise to the electronic industry in the Lloyd Registration Foundation-funded project ‘RECBIT’ (PI, GA\100113) to investigate how AI can distinguish counterfeit electronic components. He has produced more than 200 papers, 2 books, 3 book chapters and 3 patents.

Dr. (Ruth) Jill Urbanic is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Automotive, and Materials Engineering at the University of Windsor. Dr. Urbanic received her BASc. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Waterloo. After graduating, she pursued opportunities to work in various advanced manufacturing environments. She has been involved with design, implementation, and support for several types of manufacturing, material handling, testing, gauging and assembly equipment for a variety of engine components and vehicle styles. Dr. Urbanic wished to enhance her practical background with more theoretical knowledge. She received her MASc. in Industrial Engineering (2003) and her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (2007) at the University of Windsor. She teaches courses related to design and manufacturing. Her research interests focus on Additive Manufacturing (AM) / 3D printing processes, product design for manufacturing, process planning, and manufacturing systems design. Recent research has focused on exploring metal bead-based AM processes and developing a foundation for process planning, and using AM for new, innovative product development in the agricultural-automation domain. She has made significant contributions in these areas. She has over 165 refereed publications, and is the recipient of several research and teaching awards. She is also a co-founder of CAMufacturing Solutions Inc., a company that specializes in realizing additive manufacturing solutions for machine tool and robotic based industrial systems.

Dr Hao Wang is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore. He is an Alexander von Humboldt fellow (Germany), JSPS fellow (Japan) and visiting professor at Université Paris 13 and Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse France. Dr Wang has a persistent dedication to research in the physics of ultraprecision microcutting, additive manufacturing, and intelligent manufacturing. His research themes are centralised on pushing the envelope of state-of-the-art precision machining and bridging the gap between additive manufacturing and ultra-precision machining technology. Dr Wang has published over 160 peer-reviewed papers in renowned journals including Nature, Advanced Functional Materials, Additive Manufacturing, International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, etc. He currently serves as an international scientific committee member of The European Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology (euspen), Chairman-elect of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Singapore Section, Associate Editor for the Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, Youth Editor for the International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing, Co-Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Systems, editorial board member of Journal of Materials Processing Technology.

Ma’moun Abu-Ayyad 2023 Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick (UNB)-Canada. Post Doctoral Fellow in the Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory at UNB for two years to develop advanced predictive controllers for industrial systems. Dr. Abu-Ayyad joined the department of mechanical engineering at Pennsylvania State University-Harrisburg as an assistant professor in August 2008. Coinventor of “Multi-Dimensional Nonlinear Controller” patent in 2009. Dr. Abu-Ayyad research includes modeling of nonlinear processes, predictive control, mechatronics, biomedical applications, and advanced system identification techniques. Received the School of Science and Engineering Excellence Teaching Award in 2017. Supervised more than 20 Master students, 60 industrial capstone projects and received more than $400K in research grants. Strong collaborative relationship with industry in central south Pennsylvania-USA. Currently, Dr. Abu-Ayyad is a visiting scholar in radiation oncology - school of medicine at John Hopkins University. The main project of this visit is to build a mechatronic setup for a model predictive control algorithm for controlling the temperature of tumor tissues using a magnetic nanoparticles hyperthermia treatment.

Biography

Dr. Chen Yong, a Professor of Automobile Engineering, graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Saga University, Japan, and completed his Ph.D. in the same department in 1995. Between 1990 and 2008, he worked for JATCO “Powertrain Development” in various management positions. He was then Vice President and Chief Engineer at Zhejiang Geely Automobile Research Institute from 2008 to 2015, before being invited to become the leader of the New Energy Vehicle Research Center at Hebei University of Technology in 2015. His research fields include vehicle dynamics, powertrain (hybrid and electric drivetrains), vehicle CAE and transmission research and development. He has written numerous publications and holds patents relative to automotive engineering. He is a Fellow of Society of the Automotive Engineers of China (SAE-China). He is also an editorial board member of various international research journals, like Automotive Innovation. At the same time, he is the Vice Chairman of the Gear Technology Committee of SAE-China and a Visiting Professor at Jilin University.

Biography

Dr. Nagassou has received his PhD from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell in the field of energy engineering with a special focus in solar engineering. His recent works in solar-plasma reactor design for chemical processing of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane to producing alternative fuels have been published in peer reviewed journals. Currently, Dr. Nagassou is an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Penn State University at Harrisburg where he continues his research in renewable energy and plasma engineering. Prior to joining Penn State Harrisburg, Dr. Nagassou oversaw the Aerodynamics Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as Laboratory Operations Manager. Before joining the University of Illinois, Dr. Nagassou was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. Dr. Nagassou area of research interest includes concentrated solar power, plasma processes from renewable energy, and plasma technologies.

He graduated as a mechanical engineer and worked in the automotive company for seven years as a process and chief engineer respectively. In this period, he worked on improving production processes and increasing efficiency. He attended various manufacturing fairs about machine tool around the world to follow technological improvement. After seven years, he started Turkish Aerospace in the same field. He started master degree at that time and interested in machine tool vibration. Biography

Salim Çalışkan has been working as a test engineer at Turkish Aerospace for more than 8 years, the last one year as chief test engineer. He participated in various kind of structural tests of different components for helicopter and aircraft projects; however, he was mainly involved in helicopter projects like attack and light utility helicopters. Within scope of these tests; static, fatigue and qualification tests of aircraft components were performed. Besides he was also involved in dynamic characterization tests like modal and GVT tests. He graduated as a metallurgical and material engineer and continued his academic studies during his master’s and doctoral period. His research interests are fracture mechanism, fatigue behavior, material science and failure analysis. He is currently working on DIC system on the premises of the company where he works. Biography

Hao Lu, Ph. D. is a postdoctoral researcher at Xidian University, China. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Xidian University, Xi'an, China in 2022. He has been engaged in the research of GaN-based microwave/millimeter wave electronic devices and key technologies of heterostructure integration for a long time. He has published 38 technical papers in international high-level journals and conferences such as IEEE Electron Devices Letters, IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, Applied Physics Letters, IEDM, etc., including 15 first-author publications and 22 chinese filed/pending patents. He has made several oral reports at international conferences such as IEEE WiPDA, IEEE ICTA, IWN, APWS, CSW etc. In 2021, he won the IEEE WiPDA-Asia Best Presentation Award, AMSE Best Presentation Award, and Xidian Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Funding. Dr. Lu is Member of IEEE, China Institute of Electronics (CIE), and Chinese Physical Society (CPS). His specific research interests include the advanced fabrication, characterization, and integration of wide band-gap semiconductor electronic devices.

Carlos Mauricio Ruiz Díaz es Candidato a Doctor en Ciencias de la EESC/USP (Brasil), Magíster en Ingeniería Mecánica con reconocimiento de proyecto meritorio de la Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), misma institución que le otorgó el título de Ingeniero Mecánico en el 2019. Pertenece al Grupo de Investigación en Energía y Medio Ambiente (GIEMA) de la Escuela de Ingeniería Mecánica-UIS y al Laboratorio de Escoamentos Multifásicos Industriais (LEMI) de la Escuela de Ingeniería de São Carlos- Universidade de São Paulo, Brasil. Es experto en análisis y descripción de flujos multifase con la aplicación de Inteligencia Artificial en el modelado de sistemas automáticos. Ha participado en proyectos de investigación en Colombia y en Brasil, patrocinados por instituciones públicas y privadas. Ganador del premio a mejor ponencia en el IMRMPT ( Medellín 2021).

Nishant Yadav is a PhD candidate in the Interdisciplinary Engineering program at Northeastern University, Boston, MA. His research focuses on using machine learning to solve problems in environmental and climate science. He is particularly interested in developing (deep) transfer learning methods for extracting information from remotely-sensed data (e.g., satellite images). Recently his research is focused on unsupervised domain adaptation using adversarial learning techniques. At other times, conversations on networks, and making AI more interpretable and theory-guided keep him excited.

I am a Geospatial Information Scientist interested in Earth and Ocean observation. I received my Ph.D. from the Department of Marine Geosciences 2023 at the University of Haifa. Since 2021 I have been a researcher at the Technion's Israeli Coastal and Marine Engineering (CAMERI), Technion. Currently, I'm working on "Development of the Global Ocean Oil Pollution Situational Awareness System based on Remote Sensing, Drones, AUV and other sources".
