Biography

Dr. Ken Miller began his career as a nurse in 1971 as a staff nurse in an ICU in Lansing, Michigan. His career trajectory took him up the academic ladder so that he obtained both a Master's and Doctorate in Nursing research. He then added to his CV by acquiring a Master of Jurisprudence Degree in Healthcare Law and has served as an expert witness in reviewing malpractice cases against nurse practitioners. During his journey he served approximately 6 years in the Navy and had the opportunity to be on the Medical Emergency and Trauma Unit for the White House. He has served as the President of the former American College of Nurse Practitioners, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the former National Nursing Center Consortium, and currently serves as a team leader for the Collegiate Commission on Nursing Education. He also served as the Director of the School of Nursing in Delaware, and an Interim Dean at the Catholic University of America. In March of 2020 he responded to the COVID-19 pandemic and helped in the establishment of the first testing site at UT Health, San Antonio, School of Nursing. He currently serves as the Associate Dean for Ambulatory Services and supervises the Wellness 360 clinics here at Alamo District as part of UT Health, San Antonio, School of Nursing. Dr. Miller Also serves as an Associate Editor for The Journal for Nurse Practitioners.

Joanne's role at Wrexham University is Associate Dean within the Faculty of Social and Life Sciences, responsible for the Nursing, Allied Health and Sports Injury Rehabilitation undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Joanne has been a nurse for nearly 40 years and in education for over 20 years. She says, I am passionate about teaching people to care not just about the body, but the whole patient, the body, mind and soul. Registered with the professional body, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Joanne is nurse, district nurse, nurse prescriber and nurse educator. Joanne is skilled in research design, lecturing (subjects: Advanced Clinical Practice, professional practice, and research methods), and curriculum development. Research is important for the development of professional practice, and the first of Joanne's interests is spirituality and its expression in nursing care, which she has been researching since 2009. More recently she has been partnering with her Computing colleagues in the Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology, investigating the effect of Companotics (robot pets) on wellbeing for people with dementia.

Dr. Lachman is a nationally recognized leader in healthcare for the underserved. He has over 50 years’ experience in providing care, program development and administration and advocacy for underserved populations. In 1968 he was the originator for the idea for the National Health Service Corps. He has held faculty appointments at the University of Rochester, University of Washington, Medical College of Wisconsin, Johns Hopkins, UT Southwestern and University of Kentucky. He has 30 years’ experience as a managed care Medical Director, he is nationally recognized for his leadership in the management of asthma and preterm birth prevention. He serves on the City of Dallas Environmental Commission and is Senior Co-Chair of the Texas Pediatric Society Committee on Environmental Health. His present work focuses on social determinants, the environment and equity.

Dr. Gharaibeh is currently the dean of Nursing at Amman Alahlyya University and a professor at the faculty of nursing –Jordan University of science and technology. A member of the WHO Academy-quality and standards committee and ISQua expert. Former Secretary General of the Jordanian Nursing Council (JNC) Headed by Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein;. Dr. Gharaibeh worked as a Dean of Nursing at Jordan University of Science and Technology and Al alBayt University between the years 2001-2010. In addition to her academic career, she works as a national, regional and international consultant on various issues including health systems development and evaluation of maternal and child health services, for various international organizations such as WHO, USAID, UNFPA and other Arab and Jordanian institutions in addition to evaluation of quality of education programs and accreditation of education programs. Dr. Gharaibeh has published and is publishing in numerous international journals on health and empowerment of Jordanian/Arab women mainly on women’s health. She represents the health sector and nursing in prestigious national and regional committees where she influenced and still influencing health and social policies. She is the Winner of Princes Muna Award for Excellence in Leadership, 2012.

Dr. Aziza Mahmud Perez is a nurse with over ten years of clinical experience and 13 in academia. Currently, Dr. Mahmud is the Dean of the School of Nursing at Ponce Health Sciences University in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Among the positions she has held as a nurse are coordinator, supervisor of an emergency room, and director of a free-standing ER. Academically, she has held a faculty position, coordinator of a master's program, and is currently a dean.

Dr. Webb is the Executive Dean of Healthcare Initiatives at Strategic Education, Inc. Her foci are capacity building, nursing workforce issues and provider wellness. She has extensive funding for her work and has published in several journals. She has testified to the National Academy of Medicine and the White House. A sought-out speaker on international nursing care, Adele collaborates with WHO and the World NCD Congress and has contributed to nurse capacity building in 56 countries. Adele received the Nicholas Andrew Cummings award for Excellence in Interprofessional Practice, is an International Council of Nurses Global Health Fellow, and a Fellow in both the National Academies of Practice and the American Academy of Nursing.

Dr. Diane Pace earned a nursing diploma/1971, FNP certification/1976, MSN/FNP/1996 and PhD/nursing/1998. She has an appointment as Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center/Memphis, College of Nursing and retired recently as Associate Professor of Medicine/Department Ob-Gyn, with whom she collaborated at a menopause/sexual health clinic she helped develop. A member of the Menopause Society since 1996 and a Certified Menopause Practitioner since 2001, she is the only NP to serve as President of the Society, has been awarded the Menopause Practitioner of the Year. She is the only non-physician to be awarded their Dr. Leon Speroff Outstanding Educator Award. She’s served on the Menopause Society’s expert panels developing Position Statements, contributed to their textbook, & served as reviewer for The Journal of Menopause and Clinical Pearls. She also serves on the Consumer Education Committee for the International Menopause Society. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks and presented regionally, nationally, and internationally. Dr. Pace is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nurses, American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), and the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health. She has received AANP’s State of Tennessee Award of Excellence, Tennessee Nurses’ Association Award of Excellence in Advanced Practice Nursing, and the Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health Inspiration in Women’s Health Award.

Advance Practice Nurse Lizett Bell is currently the Chief Nursing Officer, Deputy Director of Hospital Services and Allied Health in the Ministry of Health and Wellness in Belize. Nurse Bell has been in the Belize health sector for over 19 years contributing in various capacities as Director of Policy and Planning, and Health Management. She is the Chairperson for the Nurses and Midwives Council of Belize and the Caribbean Human Resources for Health Commission. She is actively involved in the Regional Nursing Body for the Caribbean as the Chairperson of the Practice Committee. Her passion is for the development of policies for human resources for health, health financing, primary health care, and universal health for vulnerable populations.

Dr. Yu Chye Wah is the Professor and Dean at Faculty of Allied Health Professions, AIMST University Malaysia. His research passion is to solve medical problems conservatively preferably with class I interventions. His past research was on conservative management of ano-rectal and uro-gynecological disorder using innovative approach with bowel aid. His recent clinical studies focus on managing umbilical cord care in neonates using Wondaleaf adhesive pouch to reduce risk of external contamination. It serves as barrier dressing to ease cord care and prevent cord infection and sepsis.

Regina de Souza Alves completed PhD in Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP/2022). Doctoral thesis carried out with women. Master in Bioethics and Legal Aspects of Health at Universidade Del Museo Social Argentino in Buenos Aires, graduated in Nursing from the Federal University of Sergipe. Extensive experience in the area of Health Education, especially in the area of Ethics and Bioethics with a focus on women's issues. Assistant nurse at the Emergency Unit (24-hour Amb. Dr.João Fireman) and Basic Health Unit. Professor of the undergraduate Nursing course at the Northeastern University Teaching Society – SEUNE.

Beatriz Xavier holds a PhD in Sociology of Education, Culture and Knowledge by the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences (Nova University Lisbon), Adjunct Professor at the Nursing School of Coimbra (Scientific Area – Public Health Family and Community Nursing), responsible for the course Sociology and Anthropology of Health at the same institution. His research interests are focused on Sociology and Anthropology of Health and Medicine, teaching healthcare professionals, communication, as well as the environment, collective causes, and values. Researcher at the Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing (UICISA:E/ESEnfC) and Centre for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet (CFE-UC). Dr. Ioannidis is currently an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He studied medicine in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and graduated in 2005. He received his MSC in “Medical Research Methodology” in 2008 from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and in “Surgery of Liver, Biliary Tree and Pancreas” from the Democritus University of Thrace in 2016. He received his PhD degree in 2014 from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as valedictorian for his thesis “The effect of combined administration of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in ulcerative colitis. Experimental study in rats.” He is a General Surgeon with special interest in laparoscopic surgery and surgical oncology and also in surgical infections, acute care surgery, nutrition and ERAS and vascular access. He has received fellowships for EAES, ESSO, EPC, ESCP and ACS and has published more than 180 articles with more than 3000 citations.

David T. Burke, MD, MA, became Professor and Chairman of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of Emory University School of Medicine in October 2007. Previously, Dr. Burke served on the faculty at Harvard University Medical School as the medical director of the Clinical Unit of Traumatic Brain Injury at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston. He is a founding member of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department at Harvard University Medical School. Dr. Burke also worked as a clinical psychologist and directed the graduate program in Psychology at Georgia State University. He is a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control research program at Winship.

I have worked in palliative care since the late 1980s. I was instrumental in developing and setting up a palliative care service within the National Health Care system in Iceland between 1990 and 2000. I have extensive experience and knowledge in person-centred palliative care, and I have for number of years led person-centred practice development, education and research in hospice and palliative care in partnership with Queen Margaret University. I have served on a number of development groups in relation to palliative care education and research and have published widely in palliative care research journals. I have has also taken part in developing and delivering national and international teaching programmes in palliative care including Iceland, the UK, Serbia, Uganda and India.

I Made Dwi Mertha Adnyana is an epidemiologist and a lecturer at Hindu University of Indonesia, Denpasar. Born in Negara on July 30, 1998, completed his studies in the Biology Undergraduate Program in 2021 and continued his trata 2 studies at the Master of Tropical Medicine Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Airlangga University, with an interest in studying Tropical Medicine Epidemiology in 2023. The author obtained international certification from Microsoft (Certified Microsoft Innovative Educator) in 2021. Actively contributes to research in the fields of tropical disease epidemiology, vector-borne diseases, ecoepidemiology, bioecology, and neglected tropical diseases. Experience working on research projects related to spatiotemporal analysis, infectious and noncommunicable disease investigations, disease ecology, bioecology, vector-borne diseases, and disease management modeling. He has experience writing scientific papers, posters, and scientific essays and has obtained at least 68 awards at the national and international levels. Actively conducting research and publications in reputable international journals indexed by Scopus (ID 57725073100/Web of Science (ID AAC-8778-2022)) and SINTA-accredited national journals. It has produced several book chapters and, as an editor, reviewers of SINTA-accredited books and journals and reputable international indexed Scopus Q1-Q4 and Web of Science. A short course was completed at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (United Kingdom) in 2021 and at Taipei Medical University (2022). He is currently active as a Fellowship of the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH) in the United Kingdom. Active as a resource person in seminars, workshops, etc.
